How can we support national-level activities to link business and persons with disabilities? There are National Business and Disability Networks (NBDNs) in over twenty countries. They are forums where companies and other organizations come together to work towards further employment and social inclusion of persons with disabilities.

On 24 October 2017, for the first time ever, the ILO Global Business and Disability Network brought NBDNs from across the globe together to learn from each other and create a way forward together.

Through both online and physical participation, representatives from 14 NBDNs from all over the world as well as from the Ibero-American Network of Inclusive Companies shared their status, challenges, successes and future plans.

Technical sessions throughout the day covered:

  • Understanding the current situation of NBDNs around the world;
  • Technical support to NBDNs: what exists and what is needed in the future;
  • Allies and Advocacy: working with other stakeholders and influencing the legal and policy environment;
  • Way forward for collaboration between NBDNs.
