Capgemini's Accessible Workplaces: Successful Pilot
Capgemini has made a significant stride towards enhancing accessibility and inclusion by assessing six of its sites as part of a pilot initiative. This marks the first step in their journey to assess their global workplace portfolio. The assessment was conducted in collaboration with Mobility Mojo, an accessibility management platform that helps businesses evaluate and improve their accessibility standards.
Their buildings were evaluated against some of the highest accessibility standards in the world, resulting in a global summary that shows a high rating in outdoor areas, general facilities and parking. This global summary offers valuable insights for enhancing the six assessed buildings in India, France, Netherlands, Portugal, U.S., and Brazil, as well as other sites across their portfolio, based on a comprehensive evaluation of various aspects of the built environment.
Stephen Cluskey, CEO of Mobility Mojo, said, "We are delighted to partner with Capgemini on this initiative to improve the accessibility of their offices. Mobility Mojo exists to open the world for everyone, and we are excited that Capgemini are joining us on this journey."
Capgemini’s efforts will focus on providing quiet rooms, improving the accessibility of bathrooms and extending their disability training to all staff members. Their initiatives extend beyond physical changes; they promote awareness and a mindset valuing inclusion and equal opportunities for all. The pilot project now spans across eight more locations and countries, demonstrating their commitment to accessibility and inclusion.
The assessment standards were based on the most important local standards, including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) 2010 Standards for Accessible Design, BSI Standards for the design of an accessible and inclusive built environment, EN 17210:2021 by European Standardization bodies CEN and CENELEC, and BSI PAS 6463:2021 for neurodiversity and the built environment.
Capgemini believes everyone should have the opportunity to work wherever they choose. This unwavering commitment to creating more accessible and inclusive environments underscores their dedication to fostering an inclusive future for all.
