L’Oréal Celebrates Employee Innovation on Disability Inclusion

30 June 2026

Eighteen years ago, L’Oréal launched its first internal competition to recognize employee-led initiatives fostering the inclusion of people with visible and invisible disabilities. Over the years, these awards have gained massive global momentum. Margaret Johnson-Clarke, L’Oréal Group Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer, expanded their scope to all areas of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion: “We strongly believe that innovation comes from our people. With our Beauty of Inclusion Awards, we celebrate L’Oréal employees’ entrepreneurial spirit in bringing inclusive beauty to life.”

This year, more than 200 projects impacting employees, consumers, or communities were submitted from entities worldwide. The winning projects were celebrated during a global livestreamed ceremony in Paris last April with L’Oréal CEO Nicolas Hieronimus.

A standout winner from this year’s awards was AIR (Accessibility and Inclusivity Resource), an innovative AI companion created to support employees with disabilities. Developed by L'Oréal’s UK and Ireland teams in collaboration with employees with disabilities, AIR acts as a centralized, intuitive hub integrated into the Group’s intranet. By reducing search times, the tool provides immediate, personalized support on workplace adjustments, assistive technologies, and manager resources. To ensure seamless interaction, the agent features assistive functionalities like text simplification, voice commands, and audio playback. This bottom-up initiative is now being scaled globally across the Group.

Ultimately, by empowering employees to build solutions like AIR, L'Oréal continues to reinforce its dedication to removing systemic barriers and championing both physical and digital accessibility in the modern workplace.
