For the second year in a row, Sociedad Uruguaya de Gestión de Personas (the Uruguayan Human Resources Association) and Red de Empresas Inclusivas Uruguay (the Inclusive Business Network of Uruguay) acknowledged inclusive organisations by granting them the Uruguay Valora Seal (Uruguay Values) during a ceremony held in the Antel auditorium. Among the attendees were the Uruguayan Secretary for Human Rights, Ms. Rosario Pérez, the Permanent Representative to the Organization of American States (OAS) in Uruguay, Ms. Claudia Barrientos, and the President of the Inter-Union Assembly of Workers – Workers’ National Convention (PIT-CNT), Mr. Marcelo Abdala, among other distinguished guests.

In 2021, eight organisations and businesses obtained this seal of inclusivity, after following an assessment process. Some of the awarded organisations are the first entities in their respective sectors to receive the seal. This past year, the seal was granted to Aloft Montevideo Hotel, Asociación Cristiana de Jóvenes, Banco Itaú Uruguay, Fábricas Nacionales de Cerveza, Panificadora Bimbo del Uruguay, Redpagos, SODRE and Tienda Inglesa.

In total, thirteen organisations have obtained the seal so far in the banking, culture, sports, finance, hotel, retail, mass consumption, insurance, service, security and consulting sectors. In 2020, this seal was awarded to Gestae Incluye, MAPFRE, Securitas, Supermercados Ta-Ta and Uruguay Asistencia. The seal is valid for a period of two years, after which the organisations must recertify their inclusive practices.

Leticia Viva, Executive Director of Sociedad Uruguaya de Gestión de Personas, said that “welcoming these eight companies today and awarding them the Uruguay Valora Seal indicates the importance of this initiative, which was launched by the largest HR organisation in the country to acknowledge the work carried out by businesses and organisations towards the labor inclusion of people with disabilities. This seal is the only award of this sort in the country, and it encourages new organisations to start the process of becoming an inclusive company”.

The application period for this year’s seal will open in June 2022. Any interested organisation can obtain more information at www.uruguayvalora.org.uy
