The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance, based in the United Kingdom and shareQ, based in Lebanon, both recently joined the GBDN.

The Sustainable Hospitality Alliance (SHA) brings together engaged hospitality companies and the wider hospitality value chain, along with strategic partners, to address key challenges affecting the planet, people and places around the world. A key focus of the Alliance is disability inclusion in the sector, driving initiatives and programmes that make tangible impact. The Alliance contributed to the UNWTO guidance on ISO (International Organisation for Standardisation) standard for disability inclusion, which establishes a comprehensive set of guidelines for key players in the tourism value chain to support their efforts in making their infrastructure, products and services accessible. A recent pilot project with Sightsavers, in Kenya and Nigeria saw people with disabilities trained in hospitality skills and supported into employment. The Alliance is proud to be promoting the rights of people with disabilities and build the capacity of businesses and business networks for systems change.

ShareQ has two programmes: M Social Catering which provides services, education and food to underserved communities and ProAbled, which aims to create opportunities and support persons with disabilities in the workplace. The programme provides support for companies wanting to recruit persons with disabilities; collaboration opportunities for NGOs that want to promote disability inclusion; support for persons with disabilities who are looking for employment; and training on inclusion for companies.
