Disability-inclusive workplace care practices: the business case
Launched on the occasion of the International Day of Care and Support 2025, the report Care to Compete: Corporate Policies and Practices on Care and Support for Employees with Disabilities and Employees with Dependants with Disabilities by the ILO Global Business and Disability Network (GBDN) showcased that implementing care and supporting for employees with disabilities and for employees with dependents with disabilities is good for business.
The publication draws its findings from an examination of successful design and implementation of disability-inclusive workplace care and support policies by leading companies, all members of the ILO GBDN.
The report identifies six main themes that arise from the report’s analysis: visible senior-level commitment; the integration of care and support into wider sustainability and inclusion strategies; cross-departmental delivery; setting global minimums with local flexibility; consistent implementation across markets; and regular engagement with employees who have lived experience of disability.
The ILO GBDN also hosted a webinar disability-inclusive workplace care practices - featuring ILO GBDN company members AXA, Capgemini, ENGIE, HSBC and L'Oréal - on 23 October, where speakers from company members who shared their practices related to care and employees with disabilities and employees with dependants with disabilities in the report, highlighted their good practices.
