Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) and BRAC Bank Advance Inclusive Employment through Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities in Dhaka
BRAC Bank and the Bangladesh Business and Disability Network (BBDN) jointly hosted a large-scale Job Fair for Persons with Disabilities on 4 September 2025 at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) in Dhaka, under the Aporajeyo Ami initiative. The event aimed to promote disability-inclusive employment by connecting skilled jobseekers with employers and brought together private sector employers, government officials, development partners, and organizations of persons with disabilities (OPDs).
The day-long fair attracted candidates with diverse educational backgrounds and professional skills. In total, 510 participants attended the event, comprising 347 jobseekers, 46 caregivers, and 117 guests and employers. Among them, 355 were persons with disabilities. A total of 22 employers from sectors such as manufacturing, retail, banking, ICT, textiles, and development took part in the fair, demonstrating growing private sector commitment to inclusive hiring. Through coordinated pre-job matching and on-site interviews, 46 candidates received on-the-spot employment and internship offers, with appointment letters handed over by the chief guest and special guests.
Chief Guest Bijoy Krishna Debnath, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare, highlighted that meaningful national development depends on ensuring equal access to opportunities for all citizens. Syed Abdul Momen, Additional Managing Director and Head of SME Banking, BRAC Bank, emphasized that employment is a powerful means of dignity and empowerment for persons with disabilities.
Ardashir Kabir, Chairman of the BBDN Board of Trustees, noted that the job fair represents progress toward an inclusive workforce. The event concluded with the call for commitment to removing barriers and creating equitable opportunities for persons with disabilities.
