In August 2019, Krungthai-AXA Life (KTAXA), a market leader in health and protection insurance, joined The Blind Experience & Exhibition at the LIDO Connect, Siam Square, Bangkok.  The public event was organised by the Blind Experience Foundation. The purpose was to better understand the daily experiences and challenges of visually impaired persons and to learn about the power of our other senses including sound, smell, taste and touch.

Approximately 75 participants, including KTAXA staff, attended the 3-hour workshop. The first part was a Sensory Toura unique experience that took place in complete darkness. The blindfolded participants were encouraged to use their other senses to orientate themselves and to move in the dark, undertaking some activities such as finger painting, smelling different aromas and tasting familiar foods, as well as interacting and communicating with others through touch.

The second part took the form of a 6D Stage Play. All participants closed their eyes or were blindfolded and experienced the show through their other senses.

Pichit Sungkarungsri, Head of FSA Development, said It was truly an exceptional, humbling and a lifechanging experience. I had no idea what to expect, but it has opened my mind and helped me overcome any false sympathy, prejudices and stereotypes. I have gained a much greater understanding and empathy towards people with a disability. Experiencing all the activities in complete darkness, also awakens the senses, and deepens ones selfawareness. I feel very privileged for having had this experience and I strongly recommend that everyone should visit this creative and unique world of darkness at some stage in their life”.
