A globally observed day dedicated to people with disabilities serves as a catalyst for breaking down barriers and fostering a more inclusive and sustainable future for everyone. In 2023, Capgemini showcased how their employees with disabilities drove success for the company and created a positive impact on society.

Capgemini learned from the stories and experiences of their colleagues with disabilities on how to build a more inclusive work environment, spotlighting the achievements of individuals with disabilities, like Sarah James and Urvi Jangam among other team members.

Through workshops, training sessions, and webinars, Capgemini raised awareness on disabilities, discussing topics such as challenges colleagues may face and how they can work together to overcome them. Informative lectures like Sign Language Tip of the Day were also shared.

Towards their ongoing commitment to diversity and inclusion Capgemini teams work year-round to enhance policies and processes that amongst other underrepresented minorities ensure people with disabilities have equal access to opportunities. For instance, in France, Capgemini participated in the annual Duo Day, where with 88 teams, a person with a disability teamed up with a professional to walk in their shoes for a day at work. The India team enhanced focus on workplace accessibility and NeuroInclusion – from remodeling the office to launching an inclusive recruitment guide, which has yielded a remarkable 3.5-fold increase in the inclusion of persons with disabilities. As a first, Capgemini US was recognized as the Best Place to Work for Disability Inclusion on the Disability Equality Index for its accessible and inclusive workplace.

Teams developed projects together with their newly launched NeuroAbility and CapAbility employee networks, following Capgemini’s global CHRO, Anne Lebel’s reminder that everyone has something to bring to the table.

But disability inclusion goes beyond the workplace. Celebrating the International Day of Persons with Disabilities encourages organizations to invest in and develop accessible technologies and infrastructure to create a more inclusive society.

Capgemini supports scientific initiatives using digital solutions to accelerate clinical research, finding innovative ways to reduce barriers and building bridges in digital education.

Capgemini’s initiatives contribute to reshaping mindsets and behaviors, policies and practices, and innovation, creating an environment where persons with disabilities can thrive.
