On November 9, Movimiento Congruencia held its Annual General Assembly and the 2023 Include Awards, marking 19 years of promoting the inclusion of people with disabilities in Mexico. During this event, they launched their 2020-2023 report for the period under the leadership of Angie Ruiz, Change Management Executive at Xignux. This reports highlights the main achievements of Ruiz’s 3-year term as President, such as liaising to help 40 people with disabilities get a job and join the ranks of the almost 6,000 people with disabilities already working for their 30 allied companies; training and raising awareness among over 7,000 people on disability and inclusion through webinars, trainings and conferences, and creating partnerships with schools, civil society organizations and the Secretariat for Inclusion. Since 2021, Movimiento Congruencia has developed a digital media strategy to achieve wider reach and interaction with their community, composed of both business and people with disabilities, within their platforms. Their outreach capacity has grown by 89%.

One of their new strategic initiatives was creating a new brand identity, which brought the organization to launch their new institutional logo, a combination of the words ‘work’ and ‘union’ in sign language, representing the ‘coherence’ (or congruencia) between what they think and what they do. Movimiento Congruencia also adds value through their collaboration with the University of Monterrey, promoting training and development programs aimed at fostering labour inclusion.

It was an exceptional event which brought together over 200 people. Movimiento Congruencia acknowledged some of the best practices in social and labour inclusion by CEMEX Mexico, BanRegio and CIDIP, and in education by UnADM. They also granted an award to René Ledesma Abdala for his career as an advocate for the rights of people with disabilities and advisor for social, sports and labour inclusion projects in southern Mexico.
