RELEVANT LEGISLATION

Relevant Legislation: The Special Law for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (Legislative Decree No. 672 of June 22, 2020) is the guiding legislature on workers with disabilities. It states that the disability of a worker must be certified through Certification of Qualification of Disability of the Salvadoran Institute of Social Security (ISRI); as well as through the National Registry of the Person with Disability or through the Unique Card of Disability, which must be issued by the National Council for the Inclusion of Persons with Disabilities (CONAIDP).

Quota Legislation: Every private employer has the obligation to hire at least one person with a disability for every 20 workers in its service, ensuring decent work and gender equality for their hiring. In the case of companies that have fewer than 20 workers, they are exempt from this obligation.
